Xpeng demonstrated its XNGP advanced driver assistance system to delegates at the UN forum on automated driving held in Shanghai
Xpeng has demonstrated its AI-driven advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) to international regulators during the UN/WP.29 Informal Working Group on Automated Driving Systems session held in Shanghai this week. The forum, which brings together government representatives and industry experts to develop harmonised global rules for automated driving systems, convened offline in China for the first time.
Delegates from major automotive markets including Canada, the European Union, Japan, the United Kingdom and the United States experienced Xpeng’s XNGP system in real-world urban and highway driving scenarios. The Chinese automaker was the only emerging domestic manufacturer to participate throughout the full session and provide live on-road demonstrations to global officials and regulators.

During the demonstrations, participants observed the system’s real-time perception, decision-making and control capabilities, alongside its driver status monitoring and human-machine interaction features. Xpeng has participated in technical discussions on driver control assistance systems since 2023 and began attending IWG ADS meetings in 2025.
The automaker also presented details of its upcoming VLA 2.0 (Vision-Language-Action) architecture, designed to deliver faster response times and improved driving performance across complex scenarios. Xpeng is planning robotaxi trial operations in China later this year.
