VW loses share in China, falls behind Geely and BYD | Automotive World

VW’s inability to keep pace with EV-focused brands like BYD and Geely is costing it market share in China. By Will Girling
Volkswagen’s joint ventures in China with FAW and SAIC scored a 10.9% market share in 2025, according to data from the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA). As such, the German automaker has now fallen to third place in terms of overall retail sales, behind Geely (11% share) and BYD (14.7%).
