Freenow by Lyft has expanded its Vonage partnership to launch silent authentication API capabilities for US-based customers
Vonage, a subsidiary of Ericsson, and Freenow by Lyft have expanded their partnership with the launch of Vonage Silent Authentication API for customers based in the United States, enabling the European taxi and multi-mobility app to use network-based user verification and fraud prevention tools. Freenow operates across nine markets and more than 180 cities in Europe, and the partnership allows the company to use SIM swap detection and silent authentication capabilities to verify user identities and prevent account takeovers in real time.
Vonage said its network APIs enable Freenow to access real-time network data without interrupting the booking or payment process. The company cited a TransUnion report stating that enterprises worldwide lost an average of 7.7% of annual revenue to fraud over the past year, representing an estimated US$534bn in losses.
In a statement, Tim Ossenfort, Executive Vice President of Technology and Data at Freenow by Lyft, said: “Vonage’s technology is revolutionizing how we approach user verification, offering a frictionless and faster process while enhancing security. With Vonage, we’re able to deliver the seamless, secure, and efficient mobility experience our customers rely on.”
Niklas Heuveldop, Chief Executive of Vonage and Head of Business Area Global Communications Platform at Ericsson, added: “We’re proud to partner with Freenow by Lyft, enabling them to leverage advanced network capabilities to help prevent fraud through a more secure and seamless verification process.”
