Phinia pushes multi-fuel injection at Auto China 2026

Phinia is advancing its 500bar+ gasoline direct injection system to support China’s tighter emissions rules from December 2026

Phinia will use Auto China 2026 to outline progress on its 500bar+ gasoline direct injection (GDi) system, alongside the unveiling of GDi M100 methanol and GDi E100 ethanol injection systems aimed at multi-fuel applications. The fuel systems supplier said the next-generation GDi platform is engineered to support tighter Chinese emissions regulations expected from December 2026.

The 500bar+ system has been updated with software and optimisation capabilities targeting operating conditions most sensitive to combustion and emissions. Phinia said the platform delivers improved fuel atomisation, lower particulate emissions and higher fuel efficiency across multiple fuel types.

Phinia’s GDi M100 methanol injection system is positioned as one of the earliest of its type to market, alongside the GDi E100 ethanol solution. Both target automakers transitioning to alternative fuel powertrains in markets where multi-fuel flexibility is becoming a competitive requirement.

Hank Yang, Vice President and General Manager, Fuel Systems Asia Pacific, Phinia, said: “The tightening of emissions regulations is ushering in a new multi-fuel era. Our latest breakthroughs in methanol and ethanol capabilities demonstrate how Phinia is empowering OEMs to thrive in this diverse fuel landscape, delivering cleaner, more efficient engines while providing the flexibility needed for a practical transition to a future powered by multiple sustainable fuels.”

The Auto China stand will also cover hydrogen injection systems developed with Alpine Racing, engine management systems, port and diesel injection platforms and new capacitive and inductive ignition technologies.
