Lucid has revealed its Midsize platform and two new SUVs at an investor day, alongside a robotaxi concept and expanded autonomous vehicle plans with Uber
Lucid Group has outlined its Midsize platform strategy at an investor day in New York, revealing two new SUV models, a next-generation electric drive unit and an expanded partnership with Uber targeting autonomous vehicle deployment. The platform, which will underpin at least three consumer models starting below US$50,000, is designed to reduce battery size, part count and manufacturing costs while maintaining the range and efficiency characteristics of existing Lucid vehicles.
The first two Midsize models are the Lucid Cosmos and Lucid Earth, both SUVs targeting high-volume premium segments. A third consumer model will be detailed later. At the centre of the platform is Atlas, a new electric drive unit featuring identical front and rear housings to simplify manufacturing and reduce cost.

Lucid also introduced Lunar, a purpose-built two-seat robotaxi concept based on the Midsize platform, and confirmed advanced discussions with Uber to deploy Midsize vehicles at a scale comparable to the existing Gravity robotaxi programme. The company is targeting diversified revenue streams including software, services, platform licensing and robotaxi partnerships as part of its path to profitability.
Marc Winterhoff, Interim Chief Executive of Lucid, said: “Today, we’re keeping the same Lucid product and technology DNA intact, while applying increased scale, capital efficiency, and cost discipline, and materially reduced costs, to enable a great business with a clear and credible path to profitability and free cash flow.”
Dara Khosrowshahi, Chief Executive of Uber, added: “Lucid’s unmatched efficiency, autonomy-ready vehicle architectures, and customer-centric approach give us confidence in our ability to deliver autonomous mobility together at global scale.”
