Kia unveils entry EV3 SUV at New York Auto Show

The 2027 Kia EV3 debuts in New York as the automaker’s most affordable EV, offering up to 320 miles of range on Kia’s E-GMP platform

Kia has unveiled the 2027 EV3 at the New York International Auto Show, an entry-level electric SUV built on the company’s 400V Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP) and positioned as the most affordable model in Kia’s electric vehicle lineup. The EV3 is scheduled to go on sale in the United States in late 2026 across five trim levels: Light, Wind, Land, GT-Line and GT.

Two battery options are available: a 58.3 kW/h standard-range unit on the Light trim, offering an estimated 220 miles of range, and an 81.4 kW/h long-range battery on higher trims providing up to an estimated 320 miles. DC fast charging from 10 to 80% takes approximately 29 minutes on the standard battery and 31 minutes on the long-range unit. The EV3 features a native NACS charging port with standard Plug and Charge capability. Available all-wheel drive is optional on Wind and Land trims and standard on GT-Line and GT.

Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) and Vehicle-to-Home (V2H) capabilities are available, the latter via a Wallbox bidirectional charging system. The GT variant produces 288 horsepower and features a sport-tuned suspension. Standard equipment across the range includes dual 12.3-inch displays, a 5-inch climate display and Kia’s connected car Navigation Cockpit system with over-the-air update capability.

In a statement, Eric Watson, Vice-President of Sales Operations at Kia America, said: “The EV3 brings the innovation of our EV lineup into an entry EV SUV tailored for the way US customers live, work, and travel.”
