Mercedes-Benz Trucks is planning a new assembly plant in Cheb, Czech Republic, to complement its European production network

Mercedes-Benz Trucks is planning a new assembly and manufacturing site in Cheb, Czech Republic, with construction set to begin in 2027 and operations targeted for the end of the decade. The Wörth plant in Germany will remain the lead and largest volume site in the network, with both locations planned to produce vehicles with conventional and alternative drivetrains.

The Cheb facility will take on part of the current production programme from Wörth and Aksaray, with painted cab bodies to be supplied from Wörth. Daimler Truck is planning to invest a low to mid three-digit million-euro sum in the site, which is planned for an annual capacity of around 25,000 units and is expected to create over 1,000 jobs.

Daimler Truck has also committed more than €2bn (approximately US$2.2bn) across its German production sites by 2030, with around half allocated to Wörth. Planned upgrades include a new paint shop and expansion of the body in white area for future cab generations. Programme adjustments are also planned at the Aksaray plant in Türkiye.

In a statement, Achim Puchert, Chief Executive Officer of Mercedes-Benz Trucks, said: “With our new assembly plant in Cheb, we are strengthening the competitiveness of our production network with a clear focus on cost optimisation and complexity management. This enables us to secure value creation and employment at the Wörth site and to continue investing there in the future.”
