Kia has unveiled the second-generation 2027 Seltos, adding a new hybrid powertrain and e-AWD to its small SUV lineup in New York
Kia has unveiled the second-generation 2027 Seltos at the New York International Auto Show, with the small SUV gaining a new hybrid powertrain option and a larger body than its predecessor. The 2.0-litre and 1.6-litre turbocharged variants are targeted for US sale in Q2 2026, with the hybrid expected in late Q4 2026.

The 2027 Seltos is the only model in its segment to offer three powertrain options, according to Kia. The 2.0-litre four-cylinder is paired with an intelligent variable transmission, while the 1.6-litre turbocharged unit produces an estimated 190 horsepower through an 8-speed automatic. The new hybrid pairs a 1.6-litre four-cylinder with a 6-speed dual-clutch transmission and introduces electric all-wheel drive (e-AWD), which Kia describes as a first for a hybrid SUV in its range. Full hybrid specifications will be released closer to the on-sale date.

The new Seltos is longer and wider than the outgoing model, with a wheelbase 2.4 inches greater than its predecessor and up to 8.1 inches of ground clearance. Standard equipment includes dual 12.3-inch displays and Kia’s connected car Navigation Cockpit system with over-the-air update capability. ADAS additions new to the Seltos include Forward Collision Avoidance Assist with Junction Turning and an optional 360° Surround-View Monitor.

In a statement, Orth Hedrick, Executive Director of Product Planning at Kia North America, said: “Packed with many standard and available features found on the all-new 2027 Telluride, the 2027 Seltos offers a thought-provoking purchase consideration for cost-conscious shoppers who crave adventure.”
