Kia sets 2030 sales target of 4.13 million units

Kia Corporation has outlined a mid-to-long-term strategy at its 2026 CEO Investor Day in Seoul, targeting global sales of 4.13 million units and a 4.5% market share by 2030. The plan encompasses KRW 49 trillion (US$33.1bn) in investment over five years, an expansion of its electric vehicle (EV) lineup to 14 models, and annual EV sales of one million units by 2030.

The company is targeting annual hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) sales of 1.1 million units by 2030 through an expanded lineup of 13 models, alongside 1.98 million annual internal combustion engine vehicle sales. Kia also plans to launch a body-on-frame pickup truck with HEV and extended-range electric vehicle variants for North America by 2030.

Platform Beyond Vehicle (PBV) sales are targeted at 232,000 units annually by 2030, with the PV5, PV7 and PV9 addressing the light commercial vehicle market. Regional targets include 1.02 million units in the US, 746,000 in Europe and 1.48 million in emerging markets.

On future technologies, Kia plans to complete its first software-defined vehicle (SDV) by the end of 2027, with Level 2++ autonomous driving capability to follow in early 2029. Boston Dynamics’ Atlas robot will begin deployment at Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America in 2028, expanding to Kia AutoLand Georgia in 2029.

Kia’s 2030 financial targets include KRW 170 trillion (US$114.9bn) in revenue, operating profit of KRW 17 trillion (US$11.5bn) and a 10% operating profit margin. In a statement, Ho Sung Song, President and Chief Executive Officer, said: “EVs, HEVs, autonomous driving, and robotics will serve as key drivers for Kia’s fastest growth to date.”
