Iveco is expanding its autonomous trucking partnership with Plus to include Level 4 operations in Spain alongside existing work in Germany
Iveco and Plus have announced a programme to deploy two Level 4 autonomous heavy-duty trucks in Spain, marking the first such deployment in Southern Europe. The companies will work with Spanish logistics operator Sesé and the Government of Aragon to test autonomous Iveco S-Way trucks on a 300km freight corridor between Madrid and Zaragoza, with multi-year testing beginning in 2026 and a safety operator on board throughout the trial period.

The trucks will be equipped with Level 4 autonomous driving capabilities powered by Plus’s SuperDrive virtual driver software. The programme expands the existing partnership between Iveco and Plus, which includes Level 4 autonomous trucking operations in Germany.
Marco Liccardo, Chief Technology and Digital Officer at Iveco Group, said: “Vehicle automation is a key pillar of Iveco Group’s technology strategy. We are thrilled to reinforce our strong partnership with Plus to further innovate our ADAS and ADS technologies on board Iveco trucks.”
Shawn Kerrigan, Chief Operating Officer and Co-Founder of Plus, added: “Autonomous trucks are a transformative technology that could dramatically improve road safety and reshape commercial freight transportation around the world. Together with Sesé, we’re demonstrating how autonomous driving technology can improve the safety, efficiency, and sustainability of trucking, and strengthen the competitiveness of Europe’s supply chains.”
Plus is moving into its next phase of growth as a publicly traded company through a business combination with Churchill Capital Corp IX.
