Hesai has been ranked first among lidar companies globally for both total patent holdings and overall patent strength, according to research firm KnowMade’s LiDAR for Automotive Patent Landscape Analysis 2025. The company ranked third overall behind Bosch and Waymo, with 2,071 granted patents and pending applications as of November 2025.

Since July 2021, Hesai has filed more than 920 patent applications, forming 558 patent families including 400 new invention patents. The report also named Hesai the leader in anti-interference patents, with 33 patent families in that category, and ranked the company first in patents covering SPAD/SiPM detectors, VCSEL emitters, and APD detectors.

Hesai said 16 of its in-house developed ASICs have received AEC-Q automotive qualification, with total ASIC deliveries reaching 185 million units. The company delivered more than 1.6 million lidar units in 2025, including 1.4 million for advanced driver assistance systems and more than 200,000 for robotics applications, and surpassed two million cumulative deliveries in November 2025.

At CES 2026, Hesai announced plans to double annual production capacity to four million units and confirmed construction of a new factory in Thailand. The company also announced a strategic partnership with Nvidia to advance large-scale deployment of Level 4 autonomous driving.
