Emobi and HeyCharge link offline chargers to network

Emobi and HeyCharge have partnered to retrofit offline EV chargers and connect them to Emobi’s North American network

Emobi and HeyCharge have announced a partnership to retrofit offline EV chargers and connect them to Emobi’s roaming network, which provides access to more than 140,000 chargers across 26 networks in the US and Canada through a single API. The solution combines HeyCharge’s hardware platform, which enables chargers to operate without internet connectivity, with Emobi’s roaming hub and JustPlug cloud-based authentication system.

The partnership targets chargers in low-connectivity environments such as underground garages and dense urban buildings, where poor connectivity can result in authentication failures and higher operating costs. Once retrofitted, chargers become discoverable across automaker interfaces, fleet platforms, and consumer apps, and gain support for session tracking, energy-based billing, and real-time availability.

In a statement, Lin Sun Fa, Chief Executive of Emobi, said: “This partnership addresses one of the most persistent challenges in EV charging: unreliable or offline chargers that were never designed for modern connectivity. We’re giving operators a practical path to bring underperforming chargers online and fully integrated into the networks that fleets, automakers, and drivers rely on.”

Chris Carde, Chief Executive of HeyCharge, added: “Charging needs to be secured and work everywhere, not only where the internet is strong. By integrating with Emobi, we extend that reliability into a broader charging ecosystem, giving operators a differentiated product and providing drivers with a consistent, unified charging experience.”
