Daimler Buses will introduce the Mercedes-Benz Conecto to Germany from mid-2027, targeting private-sector operators with simpler functional requirements
Daimler Buses will introduce the Mercedes-Benz Conecto to the German market, targeting private-sector city bus operators with simpler functional requirements, with deliveries planned to begin in mid-2027. The low-floor bus, already in service across numerous European markets, will complement the existing Citaro range and is suited to applications such as school transport and replacement capacity.
The Conecto is offered as a 12-metre solo bus and as an articulated variant. The solo version is powered by the Mercedes-Benz OM 936 7.7-litre inline six-cylinder diesel engine producing 220 kW and 1,200 Nm of torque, and is also available as a hybrid using 48V low-voltage technology. The articulated Conecto G uses the OM 470 10.7-litre diesel rated at 265 kW and 1,700 Nm, with both engines meeting Euro 6 E emissions standards.

Production is handled through a cooperation with Turkish bus manufacturer Otokar, to which Daimler Buses supplies key vehicle components and specialist production equipment, supported by an on-site Daimler Buses team. The arrangement provides additional production capacity without conflicting with the company’s broader electrification strategy.
Daimler Buses said the Citaro will remain its primary offering for complex configurations, customised equipment and municipal tenders, while the Conecto addresses operators that do not require the full Citaro specification.
