Cupra has premiered the Raval electric compact in Barcelona, the first fully electric model built at Martorell and the first VW Group urban EV
Cupra has premiered the Raval electric compact across 12 cities simultaneously, with an institutional opening event in Barcelona attended by the President of the Generalitat de Catalunya, the Minister of Industry and Tourism, and the Mayor of Barcelona. The Raval is the first fully electric model built at Martorell and the first in the Volkswagen Group’s electric urban car family.
Built on Volkswagen’s MEB+ platform, the Raval measures under four metres and is offered in three launch editions with a range of approximately 450 km. The model features 3D-knitted CUP Bucket seats and dynamic light projections on door panels. Three further Volkswagen Group electric models built in Spain are planned to follow.

Markus Haupt, Chief Executive Officer of Cupra, said: “The arrival of the CUPRA Raval marks a turning point for the future of mobility in Europe: we are ready to produce EVs made in Spain, helping to make electromobility more accessible and more appealing to a new generation of drivers.”
Salvador Illa, President of the Generalitat de Catalunya, added: “Today we are taking a step forward in making electric mobility accessible to all with a vehicle made in Catalonia. It was no easy feat for the automotive industry to adapt to a rapidly changing landscape and fierce competition.”
Jordi Hereu, Minister of Industry and Tourism, said: “This new model democratises sustainable mobility and reinforces the strategic autonomy we are committed to as a country.”
