BYD extends Blade Battery warranty to 250,000km

BYD has extended the warranty on its Blade Battery to eight years or 250,000km for customers in the European Economic Area, Switzerland and the United Kingdom, increasing the mileage limit from 150,000km while retaining the existing duration of cover and a guaranteed minimum state of health of 70%. The Chinese automaker said the extended warranty applies to both new purchases and existing vehicles, meaning current owners of BYD battery electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids will automatically benefit from the expanded coverage.

The Blade Battery uses lithium iron phosphate chemistry and features in all BYD passenger vehicles sold in Europe. The company said the battery has been proven to exceed 3,000 charge and discharge cycles, with a service life equivalent to 1.2 million kilometres.

BYD’s existing warranty package includes basic coverage of six years or 150,000km, a 12-year unlimited-mileage anti-perforation warranty, and electric drive unit cover of eight years or 150,000km.

The warranty extension does not apply to vehicles used for mobility services, those covered by special fleet warranty agreements, or the BYD ETP3.
