Arteris FlexNoC interconnect IP has been deployed in Renesas’s R-Car Gen 5 SoC series, supporting ADAS and automated driving up to SAE Level 4
Arteris has announced that its FlexNoC network-on-chip (NoC) interconnect intellectual property (IP) has been licensed and deployed by Renesas Electronics for the R-Car Gen 5 system-on-chip (SoC) series, targeting advanced driver-assistance system (ADAS) and automated driving applications. The latest device in the series, the R-Car X5H, is currently sampling and delivers artificial intelligence (AI) acceleration of up to 400 trillion operations per second (TOPS), with chiplet extensions using the UCIe protocol capable of boosting AI performance by a factor of four or more.
Developed on TSMC’s 3 nm automotive process, the X5H achieves a 30% to 35% reduction in power consumption compared with previous-generation processes, reducing cooling requirements and contributing to extended vehicle driving range. The SoC supports ISO 26262 automotive safety integrity level (ASIL) D requirements at the system level, with functional safety support provided through the Arteris FlexNoC resilience option. The device processes inputs from automotive cameras, radar, and lidar for high-speed image recognition and object detection.
“Arteris FlexNoC IP enables us to achieve the performance, power reductions, and functional safety for our next-generation ADAS SoCs for level 2+, 3 and even level 4 automated vehicles,” said Aish Dubey, Vice President and Head of SoC Division, High Performance Computing at Renesas Electronics.
K. Charles Janac, President and Chief Executive of Arteris, added: “Intelligent automotive SoC compute platforms increasingly need to deliver a smarter, safer and more connected experience and scale with future AI mobility demands via chiplet extensions.”
