Audi has received six IIHS Top Safety Pick+ awards for 2026, the most of any luxury brand, spanning three current and three 2027 model-year vehicles
Audi has received six Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) Top Safety Pick+ designations for 2026, more than any other luxury brand in the current award cycle. The recognised models are the 2026 Audi A5, Q5 and Q5 Sportback, along with the 2027 Audi A6 Sportback e-tron, Q6 e-tron and Q6 Sportback e-tron.
The awards were achieved under tightened 2026 criteria, which now require a good rating in the moderate overlap front test for both Top Safety Pick and Top Safety Pick+ tiers, having previously required only an acceptable rating for the base award. Top Safety Pick+ additionally requires a good rating in pedestrian front crash prevention and at least an acceptable rating in the updated vehicle-to-vehicle front crash prevention evaluation, which tests performance against passenger car, motorcycle and semitrailer targets at speeds of 50, 60 and 70 km/h. Qualifying crash prevention systems must also be fitted as standard across all trims under either award tier. Good ratings in the small overlap front and side tests remain required for both designations, along with acceptable or good headlight ratings across all trims.
