In 2020, Mercedes-Benz Chief Executive Ola Kallenius laid out a strategy to focus on the large luxury cars which generate the brand’s highest profit margins, with the B-Class and A-Class hatchback and sedan to be dropped. Five years later, speaking at the Munich Motor Show, Källenius announced that the A-Class would continue through to 2028 rather than be dropped in 2025 or early 2026.
