Volkswagen has previewed the ID. Cross, a new electric compact SUV set to launch in Europe from autumn 2026 with a starting price of around €28,000. The five-seater is currently being shown in camouflage wrap on the streets of Amsterdam ahead of its market introduction, marking the first public appearance of the production-intent model.

The ID. Cross will be offered in three power outputs — 85kW, 99kW and 155kW — combined with two battery sizes of 37kW/h and 52kW/h net. kbjkorean :DC rapid charging is supported at up to 90kW with the smaller battery and up to 105kW with the larger, covering usage profiles from predominantly urban driving to longer inter-urban journeys.
Volkswagen describes the exterior as following its new Pure Positive design language, characterised by clear lines and balanced proportions. The interior prioritises simplicity, combining physical controls with large-format displays and materials described as oriented towards higher vehicle classes. Five-seat capacity and efficient use of interior space are also highlighted as key attributes.

The ID. Cross is positioned as an accessible entry point into Volkswagen’s electric vehicle (EV) line-up, with its €28,000 starting price placing it below existing ID. models while retaining a full suite of driver assistance systems.
