Valmet Automotive will build Carrus Delta’s Volvo-branded coach bodies at its Uusikaupunki plant, with first units due in late 2026
Valmet Automotive has signed a long-term deal with fellow Finnish company Carrus Delta to take on serial production of single-deck Volvo coach bodies at its Uusikaupunki plant. First buses are scheduled to roll off the line at the end of 2026, with Carrus Delta developing the coaches in partnership with Volvo Buses.
Over 75% of Carrus Delta’s output is shipped to the European market. The agreement covers both diesel and fully electric drivelines, and will see Valmet Automotive’s production operations integrated into Carrus Delta’s own processes. Preparations at Uusikaupunki will start immediately.

The deal supports Valmet Automotive’s September 2025 strategy to offer its contract manufacturing capabilities to industries beyond cars. For Carrus Delta, it provides additional capacity to meet rising demand, particularly for its electric coach range.
In a statement, Pasi Rannus, Chief Executive of Valmet Automotive, said: “The collaboration combines the best capabilities and features of two strong companies from Western Finland with long operating history.” Petteri Vuori, Chief Executive of Carrus Delta, added: “Cooperation with Valmet Automotive will enable us to meet the growing demand from the markets, including the fully electric coach to support growing demand for zero-emission transport solutions.”
Thomas Nylund, Vice President and Head of the European business at Volvo Buses, said the deal would add flexibility and capacity to Volvo Buses’ coach portfolio.
