A new UK government campaign promotes EV adoption, citing savings of up to £3,750 on purchases and £1,400 annually
The UK government has launched a campaign to encourage drivers to switch to electric vehicles (EVs), highlighting savings available through the Electric Car Grant and lower running costs. Titled “Get that electric feeling,” the campaign launched on 19 January 2026 across television, radio and digital platforms, promoting discounts of up to £3,750 on new EV purchases alongside potential annual savings of up to £1,400 on fuel and maintenance, as well as access to more than 87,000 public charge points across the country.
The Department for Transport said more than 50,000 drivers have used the Electric Car Grant since its introduction, with one in four new car sales in the UK now electric. The government has also committed to rolling out an additional 100,000 local public chargers and reforming planning rules to make home charger installation easier for residents without private driveways.
In a statement, Aviation, Maritime and Decarbonisation Minister Keir Mather said: “Over 50,000 drivers have made savings of up to £3,750 off a new EV and £1,400 a year on running costs. Our campaign is here to show millions of Brits the benefits of making the switch, which could save their family budget thousands.”
The campaign will appear in out-of-home locations including petrol stations, shopping centres and motorway service areas, alongside social media and partnerships.
