The Future is Neutral has added EV traction battery collection to AutoLOOP, creating a single platform for end-of-life vehicle recycling
The Future is Neutral has expanded its AutoLOOP digital platform to cover the collection and recycling of electric vehicle traction batteries, adding to its existing capability for recyclable materials including polypropylene, copper, aluminium and platinum group metals. The platform, operational since early 2025, is designed for end-of-life vehicle (ELV) centres and now provides a single system for managing both material and battery recycling streams.

AutoLOOP supports compliance with the European extended producer responsibility (EPR) regulation, which has required automotive manufacturers to finance battery collection, ensure traceability and contribute to recycling since August 2025. ELV centres submit collection requests via the platform for batteries from specific client brands, with Neutral arranging packaging, transport and processing at its own facilities and those of its partners.
For traction batteries, the platform records the battery identification number, vehicle identification number, battery status and condition data before coordinating delivery to specialised recycling sites. Strategic metals including lithium, cobalt and nickel are recovered for reuse in new batteries under a closed-loop recycling model.

In a statement, Antoine Chéreau, Business Developer at The Future is Neutral, said: “Professionalisation and digitalisation of materials and battery collection: that is our purpose. AutoLOOP is a unique platform designed to improve the recovery of end-of-life vehicles, ensuring simplicity, competitiveness and traceability.”
