Subaru partners with Infineon on next-gen EyeSight

Subaru and Infineon Technologies have announced a collaboration on the design of a microcontroller unit (MCU) for Subaru’s integrated electronic control unit (ECU) coordinating advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and vehicle motion control. Subaru has participated from the early development stage of Infineon’s Aurix TC4x automotive MCU to optimise its design specifications.

The collaboration supports Subaru’s development of a new electrical and electronic (E/E) architecture intended for use across battery-electric, hybrid and petrol vehicles. The automaker says it is targeting ultra-low latency and low power consumption in the computation of vehicle control data.

The Aurix TC4x will be installed in Subaru’s integrated ECU, which coordinates its next-generation EyeSight ADAS and vehicle motion control functions including all-wheel drive. The automaker says the MCU will support further development of ADAS and vehicle dynamics control, enhancing acceleration, cornering and braking performance.

Subaru says it will continue to collaborate with partners from early stages of vehicle development to advance its technologies.
