The order covers Urbino e-buses in 9, 12, 15 and 18-metre lengths, with the longer models using Solaris’s modular drive system
Solaris has won an order to supply 101 electric buses to Swedish transport operator VR Sverige for use in Stockholm, comprising four Urbino models in 9, 12, 15 and 18-metre lengths. The contract follows an 81-bus order awarded by VR Sverige to the Polish manufacturer in 2025.
The order comprises five Urbino 9 LE electric, 47 Urbino 12 electric with modular drive, 22 Urbino 15 LE electric and 27 Urbino 18 electric with modular drive. Each bus will be fitted with a Solaris High Energy battery pack sized to the route, which the manufacturer said is designed to give all-day range without mid-shift recharging.

Solaris said it has delivered nearly 300 electric buses to the Swedish market to date and that the figure will exceed 550 once the two VR Sverige contracts are completed. The buses on the latest order will also be air-conditioned and feature a passenger information system.
In a statement, Sverre Skaar, Chief Executive of Solaris Sverige AB, said: “This partnership marks an important milestone for us, as it establishes a significant foothold in the Swedish capital.” Anders Frykman, Bus Director at VR Sverige, added: “This order represents a significant step toward sustainable, electrified bus transport.”
