The Automobile Journalists Association of Canada has named the Porsche Taycan its 2026 Canadian Electric Car of the Year
The Porsche Taycan has been named Canadian Electric Car of the Year for 2026 by the Automobile Journalists Association of Canada (AJAC). The award recognises the all-electric sports car, which is available as a sedan or in Cross Turismo estate form, with power outputs ranging from 536hp to 1,019hp.

The Taycan offers standard all-wheel drive across the range. The entry-level Taycan 4S produces 536hp and can accelerate from 0-100km/h in 3.7 seconds with the optional Launch Control feature, while the range-topping Turbo GT delivers 1,019hp and completes the sprint in 2.2 seconds. Pricing for the Taycan 4S starts at CA$136,200 for the sedan and CA$143,100 for the Cross Turismo.
In a statement, Trevor Arthur, President and Chief Executive of Porsche Cars Canada, said: “We are honoured that the Canadian Car of the Year jury recognised the Taycan as an outstanding choice this year. This all-electric sports car offers a winning combination of performance, efficiency, to surprising practicality that have always been hallmarks of the brand.”
