Peugeot launches Turbo 100 engine for 208 and 2008插图Peugeot has introduced a new three-cylinder petrol engine, the Turbo 100, incorporating 70% new components by value and featuring a variable-geometry turbocharger, high-pressure direct injection and a timing chain. The unit will be available on the Peugeot 208 from March 2026 and on the Peugeot 2008 from May 2026.

The 1,199cm³ engine delivers a maximum output of 101hp (74kW) at 5,500rpm and peak torque of 205Nm from 1,750rpm. The variable-geometry turbocharger is designed to improve throttle response at low revs for urban driving and overtaking.

Fuel efficiency is addressed through a 350-bar high-pressure direct injection system, a valve timing system to reduce internal friction, and a Miller cycle combustion setup with a high compression ratio. Peugeot says the combination improves thermal efficiency compared with the outgoing unit.

The Turbo 100 underwent more than 30,000 hours of bench testing and prototype vehicles accumulated in excess of three million kilometres during development, with several units surpassing 200,000km. The service interval has been extended to every two years or 25,000km, up from the previous one-year or 20,000km schedule, with an annual interim check retained.

Models equipped with the Turbo 100 will be covered by Peugeot’s Care programme, offering a warranty of up to eight years or 160,000km depending on market.
