Changan UK launches Deepal S05 electric compact SUV

Changan UK has launched the Deepal S05, a fully electric compact SUV priced from £37,990 for the rear-wheel drive (RWD) variant and £39,990 for the all-wheel drive (AWD) version, with both offered in a single trim level. The model went on sale on 1 March 2026 through a dealer network of over 40 UK sites, expanding to 60 by the end of the month.

The S05 is powered by a 68.8kW/h lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery delivering WLTP ranges of up to 303 miles (RWD) and 278 miles (AWD). The RWD model produces 200kW and 290Nm, with a 0-62mph time of 7.5 seconds, while the AWD variant produces 320kW and 502Nm, reaching 62mph in 5.5 seconds. DC fast charging is supported at up to 200kW, enabling a 30% to 80% charge in 15 minutes, with 11kW AC charging and a vehicle-to-load (V2L) function providing up to 6kW of power to external devices also available.

The exterior, styled at Changan’s design centre in Turin, has a drag coefficient of 0.25Cd. Inside, the cabin features a 15.4-inch rotating touchscreen, a 50-inch augmented reality head-up display (AR-HUD), 14-speaker audio, heated and ventilated front seats and a zero-gravity front passenger seat. Boot capacity is 492 litres, extending to 1,250 litres with the rear seats folded, supplemented by a 159-litre front trunk.

The S05 holds a five-star Euro NCAP rating and is equipped with 17 driver assistance systems enabling Level 2 autonomous driving. The model is produced in Thailand and comes with a seven-year/100,000-mile vehicle warranty and an eight-year/124,000-mile battery warranty.
