Opel has unveiled the new Astra and Astra Sports Tourer at the Brussels Motor Show with up to 454km of electric range
Opel has unveiled the new Astra and Astra Sports Tourer at the 2026 Brussels Motor Show, with the updated compact models featuring an illuminated badge for the first time, advanced headlight technology, and up to 454km of electric range under WLTP testing. The Stellantis-owned automaker is offering the new Astra with combustion, 48V hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and battery electric powertrains, while all seats are made from 100% recycled materials.

The new Astra introduces Intelli-Lux HD headlights developed by Opel’s engineers in Rüsselsheim, featuring more than 50,000 elements. The Opel Vizor front design has been updated with permanently illuminated Blitz badge and Compass signature lighting, replacing external chrome elements.
Florian Huettl, Chief Executive of Opel, said: “The new Astra marks the next step in our 90-year history of the compact class and once again brings innovative features to the segment.”
Rebecca Reinermann, Vice President of Marketing at Opel, added: “Light instead of external chrome elements is an important step on our sustainability journey.”
Opel also confirmed that the Corsa remained Germany’s best-selling small car for the fifth consecutive year in 2025, while approximately one in three Grandland and Frontera orders are for battery electric variants. The Brussels stand also features the Mokka GSE, Grandland Electric AWD, Frontera Electric, and the Corsa GSE Vision Gran Turismo concept. The new Astra range will be available with patented Intelli-Seats featuring an ergonomic recess as standard from the entry-level variant.
