Nvidia will supply its DRIVE Hyperion architecture and DRIVE AV software for a Level 4-ready Mercedes-Benz S-Class robotaxi
Nvidia will supply its Drive Hyperion architecture and full-stack Drive AV Level 4 software for the new Mercedes-Benz S-Class, which is designed to support robotaxi operations with end-to-end artificial intelligence and classical driving stacks running in parallel. The vehicles will be made available to riders through Uber’s mobility network as part of Nvidia’s previously announced partnership with the ride-hailing company.
The Drive Hyperion platform integrates sensor diversity spanning cameras, radar and lidar alongside redundant compute systems, with Nvidia’s Halos safety system applied to help eliminate single points of failure. Nvidia said the Drive AV system is trained on its DGX systems and validated using high-fidelity simulation with Omniverse NuRec libraries and Cosmos world models.
In a statement, Jensen Huang, founder and Chief Executive of Nvidia, said: “Mercedes-Benz has set the standard in the automotive market, building cars defined by exquisite craftsmanship and safety engineering. Five years ago, Nvidia began working with Mercedes-Benz to help carry that legacy into the AI era.”
The software pairs AI-driven decision-making with a parallel classical safety stack to keep the vehicle operating within defined boundaries. Nvidia said the architecture enables a premium, chauffeur-style autonomous experience, with the system designed to handle complex edge cases including unpredictable pedestrian behaviour, debris and unusual road conditions.
The new S-Class, running on Mercedes-Benz’s MB.OS operating system, was unveiled at the Mercedes-Benz Museum in Stuttgart on 29 January 2026 as part of the automaker’s 140th anniversary celebrations.
