Nissan Leaf has won best new model and best EV under US$35,000 in the Kelley Blue Book Best Buy Awards
The third-generation Nissan Leaf has won two categories in the 2026 Kelley Blue Book Best Buy Awards, earning recognition as best new model and best electric vehicle under US$35,000 in the annual programme now in its 12th year. Kelley Blue Book editors cited the vehicle’s design, EPA-estimated range of up to 303 miles per charge, compatibility with North American Charging Standard fast chargers and starting price of US$29,990—lower than the original 2011 model.
The redesigned Leaf features a built-in NACS port with plug-and-charge functionality providing access to more than 27,500 Tesla Superchargers. Available features include a segment-first dimming panoramic roof, dual 14.3-inch displays with Google built-in, and 64-colour ambient interior lighting.

The model has accumulated several awards since launch, including InsideEVs Breakthrough EV of the Year, a Wards 10 Best Engines and Propulsion Systems award, and World’s Best Compact Car from the Women’s Worldwide Car of the Year jury.
Kelley Blue Book’s Best Buy Awards recommend vehicles across segments based on testing of comfort, cargo space, features, build quality and driving experience, alongside pricing data and ownership cost projections.
