Tesla continues to pivot away from its core EV business, but there are reasons to doubt it can compete in the sectors it targets. By Stewart Burnett
Tesla Chief Executive Elon Musk announced on 14 March that the company’s Terafab project, a proprietary wafer fab initiative designed to produce the AI chips underpinning its autonomy ambitions, will launch within seven days. The announcement was made via a post on X and offered no details on location, scale or capital commitments, building both expectations and wariness towards the automaker’s record on forward guidance.
