Microsoft will provide cloud and AI technologies to Mercedes F1 for simulation, performance analysis and race strategy modelling
Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team has announced a multi-year partnership with Microsoft that will see the technology company’s cloud and artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities integrated across team operations, from factory facilities to trackside activities. The deal comes ahead of the 2026 Formula 1 regulation changes, which introduce increased electrification and represent one of the most significant technical shifts in the sport’s recent history.

Each Mercedes F1 car carries more than 400 sensors generating over 1.1 million data points per second, covering variables including tyre degradation, aerodynamic behaviour and energy recovery system deployment. Microsoft Azure will support the team’s simulation workloads, performance analysis and race strategy modelling, while Microsoft 365 and GitHub will continue to underpin engineering and operational workflows.
In a statement, Toto Wolff, Chief Executive and Team Principal of Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team, said: “By putting Microsoft’s technology at the centre of how we operate as a team, we will create faster insights, smarter collaboration and new ways of working as we look ahead to the next generation in F1.”
The partnership builds on a 30-year collaboration between Microsoft and Mercedes-Benz across the automotive sector.
