Rising raw material costs and the continual decline of Mercedes car sales in China are suppressing its financial performance. By Will Girling
Mercedes-Benz sold 29,500 fewer vehicles overall in Q1 2026 than last year, causing revenue for the period to drop almost 5% to €31.6bn. Car sales in Europe and North America grew 7% and 16% respectively; unsurprisingly the leak in company volume stemmed from China, which cratered 27% to 111,621 units.
