Mercedes-Benz Trucks has completed winter testing of the eArocs 400 near the Arctic Circle at -20°C ahead of an April 2026 market launch
Mercedes-Benz Trucks has completed winter testing of the new eArocs 400 electric construction truck near the Arctic Circle at temperatures reaching -20°C, gathering data to refine the vehicle ahead of series production. Tests assessed traction and driving stability on snow and ice, cold-start performance, battery and charging behaviour at subzero temperatures, and electric powertrain efficiency.

The e-truck is due to go on sale in April 2026. Production of the base vehicle will begin at the Mercedes-Benz plant in Wörth am Rhein in the third quarter of 2026, with final integration of the electric powertrain carried out by the Paul Group in Vilshofen an der Donau, Germany.
The eArocs 400 is designed for urban construction transport and is described by the company as locally CO₂e-free and low-noise.
Michael Kimmich, Head of Development eArocs 400, said: “The winter tests in Finland subjected the eArocs 400 to demanding trials under dry, extremely cold conditions—trials it handled with confidence. With stable driving characteristics and a range and charging performance well within the expected parameters, it clearly demonstrated its capability.”
