Maruti Suzuki launches e Vitara with battery-as-a-service

Maruti Suzuki has commenced deliveries of the e Vitara, its first electric SUV, in India. The vehicle is available with a battery-as-a-service (BaaS) pricing model starting at INR1.1m plus a battery lease calculated at INR3.99 per kilometre, with introductory pricing valid until 31 March 2026.

The e Vitara is offered with 61 kWh and 49 kWh battery options, with a claimed range of up to 543 km. Both battery packs carry an eight-year or 160,000 km warranty. The vehicle features Level 2 advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) including adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, and automatic emergency braking, with seven airbags as standard. The model has received a five-star Bharat NCAP safety rating.

In a statement, Partho Banerjee, Senior Executive Officer of Marketing and Sales at Maruti Suzuki India, said: “Maruti Suzuki’s EV strategy has been developed to ensure that the e Vitara becomes the primary EV choice for customers. The e Vitara offers a commendable driving range of over 543 km, supported by ‘e for me’ charging ecosystem that mirrors the reliability our customers have trusted for decades.”

Maruti Suzuki said e Vitara buyers will receive a complimentary 7.4 kW AC wall box charger with installation, alongside one year of free charging at dealer locations. The company is also offering assured buyback plans of up to 60% vehicle value with a three-year ownership period.
