MAN deploys electric trucks for inbound logistics

MAN has begun using battery-electric trucks for inbound logistics between its Nuremberg and Munich plants

Logistics company Kloiber has deployed the first of 15 MAN eTGX electric trucks for inbound transport between MAN’s Nuremberg and Munich plants, covering approximately 328 kilometres per round trip and up to 1,900 kilometres daily across four to six rotations. The truckmaker said locally emission-free operation using green electricity will save up to 566 tonnes of CO2 annually, with plans to gradually convert its entire inbound network—covering 165 million kilometres per year—to zero-emission drives.

MAN has expanded charging infrastructure at its Nuremberg and Munich plants, while four 400kW high-performance charging stations have been installed at the Munich-Karlsfeld service centre. Kloiber has also built a commercial vehicle charging park at its Petershausen facility near Dachau with 10 charging stations offering up to 500kW capacity.

The MAN eTGX ultra-low liner variant, with a fifth-wheel height of 950mm and interior height of up to three metres, is designed for automotive logistics applications.

In a statement, Michael Kobriger, Member of the Executive Board responsible for Production and Logistics at MAN Truck & Bus, said: “The electrification of our supply chains is central to our path to zero-emission transport and sustainable cost efficiency.”

MAN tendered 40 inbound routes for battery-electric vehicles in early 2025, with Kloiber awarded eight routes. Further tenders are expected through to the end of 2026.
