Mahle’s E-SCAN battery diagnostics function has received certification from the Car Remarketing Association Europe
Mahle has announced that its E-SCAN battery diagnostics function has received certification from the Car Remarketing Association Europe (CARA). The certification confirms that Mahle’s assessment of electric vehicle battery condition complies with European quality standards, offering repair shops, fleet operators and used car dealers a competitive advantage.
E-SCAN comes pre-installed on Mahle diagnostic devices TechPRO and CONNEX. It reads battery parameters such as state of health directly via the European on-board diagnostic interface and evaluates them based on original manufacturer data, completing diagnosis in under two minutes without requiring a test drive. Battery health analyses are crucial for determining the resale value of used EVs, as the high-voltage battery can account for up to 60% of a vehicle’s total value.

In a statement, Felix-Matthias Walter, Director of Service Solutions at Mahle Lifecycle and Mobility, said: “We are pleased that the certification of E-SCAN further strengthens our role as a competent and strong partner in the growing market for used electric vehicles. The certification now ensures comparability and transparency across national markets.”
Mahle also offers the E-HEALTH Charge battery diagnostics device for workshops seeking more detailed analysis. This device collects data during physical measurement of the battery while charging, enabling manufacturer-independent state of health diagnosis in 15 minutes.
