Mass production starts in 2027, with modules destined for AVN systems supplied to a global automaker through the European partner
LG Innotek has secured an order worth around US$68m to supply its Automotive Wi-Fi 7 Communication Module to a major European automotive parts company. Mass production will begin in 2027, with the module integrated into Audio, Video, and Navigation (AVN) systems destined for a global original equipment manufacturer (OEM).
The module supports a 320MHz ultra-wide bandwidth, double that of Wi-Fi 6E, and delivers data throughput around three times faster than the previous generation. It uses 4K-QAM modulation and Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) technology supporting up to two antennas, allowing multiple in-vehicle devices to transmit and receive data without interruption.

The unit packages more than 150 components, including a Qualcomm chip, in a footprint about one-sixth the size of a credit card. It is rated for operation between -40°C and 105°C and built to resist deformation through repeated thermal cycling.
Moon Hyuksoo, Chief Executive of LG Innotek, said: “Growth is expected to gain further momentum, driven by Mobility Solution revenue, which is projected to grow by an average of 20% annually, particularly as sales of automotive AP modules begin in earnest in the fourth quarter of this year.”
LG Innotek plans to extend the module’s application beyond AVN to rear seat entertainment, telematics control units, and domain control units. The company is also targeting other European and Japanese OEMs, alongside existing 5G-V2X, 5G-NAD, and Automotive AP module lines.
