IONNA marks two years with 100-plus live sites and a new General Motors discount programme across its North American network
IONNA, the electric vehicle (EV) charging joint venture established by eight automakers, has passed 100 live charging sites in North America as it marks its second anniversary, with more than 4,700 bays contracted nationwide and nearly 1,500 in construction or beyond. The network, branded as Rechargeries, is backed by BMW, General Motors, Honda, Hyundai, Kia, Mercedes-Benz, Stellantis and Toyota.
To coincide with the anniversary, IONNA has launched its first automaker discount programme in partnership with General Motors, with equivalent programmes from its remaining founding automakers to follow. The scheme offers base discounts without a subscription requirement, alongside optional tiers including new-vehicle charging credits, OEM subscriptions, loyalty rewards and pre-paid discounted cards.

Utility interconnection has been a central factor in network expansion. Ten utilities energised multiple IONNA locations within a single year, with a further 33 bringing individual sites online across their service areas. IONNA says organisations including the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) and Edison Electric Institute (EEI) supported the rollout.
New locations in Forest Park and West Point, Georgia, and Limon, Colorado, are among the latest full-scale Rechargeries to open. A further site in Dallas, Texas, due in the second quarter of 2026, will feature an automated convenience store using Amazon’s Just Walk Out technology. All new IONNA locations opening in 2026 will offer charging at US$0.20/kWh for the first week.
