Hyundai plans 36 new models for North America by 2030

Hyundai Motor Company has outlined plans to launch 36 all-new or significantly enhanced vehicles in North America between 2026 and 2030, spanning passenger cars, SUVs, trucks and commercial vehicles across internal combustion engine (ICE), hybrid, battery electric and extended-range electric (EREV) powertrains. The announcement was made by President and Chief Executive José Muñoz at the company’s annual general shareholder meeting on 26 March 2026.

The 36 models will include core vehicles alongside expanded trim lines, incorporating XRT and N performance derivatives. The broad powertrain mix is intended to address varying customer demand across the US, Canada and Mexico, where Hyundai Motor North America’s 1,400 dealerships sold more than 1.19 million Hyundai and Genesis vehicles in 2025, an 8% increase on 2024.

The product push is part of Hyundai Motor Group’s previously announced US$26bn investment in the United States, which also includes a new steel mill in Louisiana and a robotics innovation hub. By 2030, Hyundai is targeting more than 80% of vehicles sold in the US to be domestically assembled, with US supply-chain content rising from approximately 60% to 80%.

In a statement, Muñoz said: “By expanding our product portfolio and offering a wider range of powertrains in North America, we’re giving customers more choice while continuing to strengthen our long-term investment in US manufacturing, jobs, and the broader automotive ecosystem.”

Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America and Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Alabama form the current US production base supporting the localisation push.
