Toyota’s Q1 sales suggest that if a RAV4 changeover hadn’t occurred, it might have almost overtaken GM as highest-volume OEM in the US. By Will Girling
General Motors and Toyota North America have posted year-on-year losses in their Q1 2026 US sales reports. For Toyota the decline was minor—569,420 units, down just 0.1% from Q1 2025—but GM posted a more severe 9.7% drop to 626,429 units.
