The company that defined the first phase of China’s EV market continues to struggle against subsidy terminations and intensifying competition. By Stewart Burnett
BYD delivered 300,222 vehicles in March 2026, marking a 20.5% decline year-on-year and its seventh consecutive month of falling sales in this vein. Total Q1 volumes came in at 700,463 units—down 30% year-on-year—with overseas market share reaching roughly 40% of overall volume, partially offsetting persistently weak demand in its native market.
