Geely Technology Europe unifies Gothenburg and Frankfurt R&D

Geely Auto Group has unified its Gothenburg and Frankfurt engineering centres into a single R&D hub serving Zeekr, Lynk & Co, and Geely

Geely Auto Group has consolidated its European engineering operations into a unified research and development organisation called Geely Technology Europe (Geely Tech Europe), integrating existing centres in Gothenburg, Sweden, and Frankfurt, Germany. The Gothenburg centre, formerly known as Zeekr Technology Europe and before that China Euro Vehicle Technology, has adopted the new name, while the Frankfurt operation continues as LTIC GmbH under the Geely Tech Europe identity.

The organisation will provide engineering support across the Zeekr, Lynk & Co, and Geely brands, working alongside the Geely Research Institute in China on vehicle platforms for global markets. Geely says it aims to reduce the gap between Chinese and overseas product launches to under six months, and plans to double its managed European carline projects by 2027.

Geely Tech Europe’s work spans three areas: co-development of global mechanical and electrical and electronic (E/E) architectures; product definition and regulatory compliance for international markets; and software-defined vehicle development covering agentic AI, advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), smart cockpits, and European data privacy and cybersecurity standards.

In a statement, Giovanni Lanfranchi, Chief Executive Officer of Geely Technology Europe, said: “Establishing Geely Technology Europe creates a genuinely borderless R&D setup — a strategic edge that allows us to not only meet global standards, but help set them.”

The European teams have previously contributed to the Compact Modular Architecture (CMA), which underpins more than four million vehicles globally, and the Sustainable Experience Architecture (SEA) platform family.
