Geely’s G-ASD is the first Chinese ADAS to receive UN R171 certification, clearing the way for sales across all UNECE member states
Geely Auto Group’s advanced driver assistance system, the Qianli Haohan G-ASD, has become the first Chinese-developed ADAS to receive UN R171 certification, the European Union’s unified standard for driver control assistance systems (DCAS). The certification, jointly issued by the China Automotive Technology and Research Centre (CATARC) and IDIADA, acts as a regulatory passport allowing vehicles equipped with G-ASD to be sold across all UNECE member states without individual country approvals.

The first G-ASD-equipped vehicle is expected to reach European roads in June 2026, powered by dual Nvidia Orin-X chips and capable of assisted driving at speeds of up to 150 km/h on European highways. Key functions include automated highway interchange navigation, smart on and off-ramp handling, autonomous overtaking and dynamic speed regulation. Geely and CATARC jointly developed a testing framework to address a gap in the UN R171 standard, bridging conventional driver assistance and conditional autonomous driving within a human-machine co-driving framework.
UN R171 is among the most demanding ADAS certifications globally, requiring hazard recognition, system redundancy and continuous driver monitoring. Geely says it intends to leverage the certification to roll out the technology across its broader portfolio, including Zeekr, Lynk & Co and Lotus.
