EVgo is joining the Alliance for Automotive Innovation, marking the first charging company to become a member
EVgo has become the first electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure company to join the Alliance for Automotive Innovation, the US trade group representing automakers, suppliers, battery manufacturers and autonomous vehicle companies. EVgo operates more than 4,600 fast charging stalls at over 1,100 locations across 47 US states, with plans to expand to more than 15,000 stalls by 2029.
More than 60% of the company’s network comprises 350 kW high-power chargers. Nearly 90 vehicle models have been tested for interoperability at EVgo’s Innovation Lab.
In a statement, John Bozzella, President and Chief Executive of the Alliance for Automotive Innovation, said: “Automakers are deploying cutting-edge technologies and innovative electrified powertrains. It’s an exciting time and key to our global competitiveness. More public EV charging goes hand-in-hand with EV adoption. EVgo is the association’s first charging infrastructure company, and we know this perspective will help drive policies that benefit the full EV charging infrastructure and supply chain.”
Badar Khan, Chief Executive at EVgo, added: “EVgo is joining the Alliance for Automotive Innovation at such an important time for the auto industry and the nearly 7 million drivers in the US who have already chosen to drive EVs.”
