Duracell E-Charge picks Paythru for UK network payments

Duracell E-Charge has appointed Paythru to manage payments across its UK ultra-fast charging network, targeting a 99.8% payment success rate

Duracell E-Charge has selected Paythru as the payments provider for its UK ultra-fast electric vehicle (EV) charging network, with the platform set to handle end-to-end payment processing across all charge points. The network, developed and funded by The EV Network under a Duracell brand licensing agreement, currently operates six ultra-fast charging locations across the UK.

Paythru’s platform will cover multi-channel payment processing including card, app and terminal transactions, alongside session authentication and automated settlement. The firm claims a 99.8% payment success rate, which it positions against industry reports suggesting payment failures account for up to 25% of EV charging outages. Duracell E-Charge has set a 99% uptime target for the network, spanning both charger availability and payment reliability.

The Duracell E-Charge network is targeting motorway, retail, hospitality and city hub locations. Beyond payments, the network has emphasised ease of use and 24/7 customer support as differentiators in the UK public charging market.

Mark Bloxham, Duracell E-Charge, said: “With Paythru, we have a platform purpose-built for EV networks, delivering enterprise-grade reliability, automated settlement, and multi-channel payment options that scale effortlessly as the network grows. Drivers can plug in with confidence, and operators can focus on growth and customer experience rather than worrying about payments.”
