Daimler Buses has launched the eIntouro at Bus2Bus 2026, its first electric intercity bus, with LFP batteries and over-the-air updates
Daimler Buses is using Bus2Bus 2026 in Berlin to launch the Mercedes-Benz eIntouro, its first fully electric intercity bus, alongside updates to its eCitaro G city bus and a new Charging-as-a-Service offering under the Omniplus Charge sub-brand. The trade fair runs from 15 to 16 April in Berlin.

The eIntouro is based on the diesel-powered Intouro platform and is available in two lengths of 12.18 metres and 13.09 metres, accommodating up to 63 passengers. It uses lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery technology with a usable capacity of 95% and a claimed service life of up to 15 years. With two 207 kWh battery packs, range is quoted at up to 500 kilometres. Charging via CCS Type 2 supports up to 400 kW. The eIntouro also becomes the first European bus to support over-the-air software updates, with fleet managers authorising installations through the Omniplus On digital portal. First customer deliveries are expected in the second half of 2026.

The updated eCitaro G articulated e-bus is shown in the outdoor area, featuring revised electric motors with a continuous output of 360 kW and 588 kWh of NMC3 battery capacity across six packs.
Under Omniplus Charge, Daimler Buses will also build and operate public fast-charging stations at tourist locations from 2026, starting with a four-charger, 400 kW pilot in Cologne and four stations of up to 600 kW at Munich’s central bus station. The company described itself as the first bus manufacturer in Europe to do so.
