Bentley Motors has published a responsible sourcing policy covering leather, wool and wood veneers, aligned with Volkswagen Group frameworks
Bentley Motors has published a Responsible Raw Material Sourcing Policy Statement, setting out standards for the ethical sourcing of leather, wool and wood veneers used in its Crewe-built vehicles. The policy forms part of the company’s Beyond100+ sustainability strategy and aligns with the Volkswagen Group Responsible Raw Material Policy.
On animal welfare, Bentley requires all leather hide to comply with EU or equivalent national legislation, backed by recognised certification schemes and third-party verification, with prohibited practices clearly defined and supplier compliance subject to ongoing monitoring. For wood veneers, sourcing must meet the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) and UK Timber Regulations, with materials drawn from certified, responsibly managed forests. Bentley says it is also exploring recycled and reconstituted wood alternatives to support material circularity.

The policy applies a risk-based due diligence approach across suppliers, with emphasis on traceability, transparency and continuous improvement. Bentley works with suppliers through regular risk assessments, training and reporting to embed the standards throughout its supply chain.
Dr Frank-Steffen Walliser, Chairman and Chief Executive, Bentley Motors, said: “This Policy Statement is a living document, one that will continue to evolve as legislation, industry expectations and our own understanding advance.”
