Also has raised US$200m in a Series C round and announced a multi-year autonomous delivery partnership with DoorDash
Also, a developer of small electric vehicles for last-mile and autonomous delivery, has announced a strategic partnership and multi-year commercial collaboration with DoorDash, alongside a US$200m (approximately — no conversion needed as USD) Series C financing round. The round is led by Greenoaks, with participation from Prysm Capital and a strategic investment from DoorDash.
The partnership focuses on deploying purpose-built small EVs designed for high-density urban environments, with particular emphasis on road-adjacent spaces such as bike lanes, shoulders and curbsides — areas Also describes as the most challenging segment of the last-mile delivery network. Also said its vehicles are being developed from the ground up for autonomous operation in these conditions.
As part of the agreement, DoorDash co-founder Stanley Tang will join Also’s board as an observer. Also said it plans to scale production and expand globally, with vehicles intended to serve both passenger and goods movement in driven and autonomous configurations.
In a statement, Chris Yu, Co-Founder and President of Also, said: “Small autonomous EVs are optimal in these environments. That is what Also is building from the ground up.”
Stanley Tang, Co-Founder and Head of DoorDash Labs, added: “Also is building purpose-built EVs that are designed to unlock new ways to meet customers and merchants where they are.”
