Hyundai, KOICA and Vietnam partner on automotive skills

Hyundai Motor Group, KOICA and Vietnam’s Ministry of Education and Training have signed an MoU to develop manufacturing skills

Hyundai Motor Group has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) and Vietnam’s Ministry of Education and Training to develop automotive manufacturing skills in Vietnam. The programme will run from the second half of 2026 through 2031, with graduates connected to employment at small and medium-sized component manufacturers in the country.

Training will focus on production-floor disciplines including die-casting, press forming and welding. Hyundai Motor Group will lead curriculum design in collaboration with KOICA, while Vietnam’s Ministry of Education and Training will coordinate support through affiliated vocational institutions.

In a statement, Sung Kim, President and Head of Strategic Planning at Hyundai Motor Group, said: “Vietnam’s automotive market is growing fast, and the demand for skilled professionals is growing with it.” The partnership is described as the first trilateral industry-government skills programme in Korea’s automotive sector.

As a leading automotive manufacturer in Vietnam, Hyundai Motor Group operates the Hyundai Thanh Cong Vietnam Auto Manufacturing Corporation (HTMV) joint venture, a key part of its South-East Asian strategy. The Group’s existing social investment in Vietnam includes an educational mentoring scheme and a mangrove reforestation initiative in the Mekong Delta.
